This blog will go into depth about what WiFi calling is, the pros and cons of using WiFi calling and using it on your Jethro phone. Now let’s get into it!
What is Wi-Fi Calling?
Wi-Fi calling is a great feature that allows you to make phone calls and send texts over a wireless internet connection instead of using your cellular carrier network.
You can make Wi-Fi calls through your home internet connection, public internet connections, and even Wi-Fi hotspots when you are on the go and you have no cellphone service.
Pros and Cons of Wi-Fi Calling
There are a variety of pros and cons to using Wi-Fi calling and texting. Here are a few to consider before using this feature:
Pros:
Improves call quality in areas with poor network coverage
Does not cost extra money – this feature is typically included in regular monthly plans
Does not require additional applications
Uses your existing phone number
Can prolong your phones battery life
Cons:
If you are in an area with poor or overcrowded Wi-Fi networks, your Wi-Fi connection can lag. This can lead to poor voice quality or dropped calls
Not all devices support Wi-Fi calling. However, if you own Jethro’s SC490 phone, you will not need to worry about it as this phone comes equipped with Wi-Fi calling.
There are limitations on international Wi-Fi calling. Typically, if you are overseas, Wi-Fi calling will allow you to call to the US, but not to other countries. Be sure to check with your carrier before traveling.
Data usage fees could apply. If you are making a Wi-Fi call and the Wi-Fi signal drops, your call could default to your data plan.
Wi-Fi Calling on Jethro’s SC490 Phone
As previously mentioned, Jethro’s SC490 phone comes equipped with the feature of Wi-Fi calling. To turn this feature on you should:
Press Menu
Scroll left to Settings
Select Network & Internet
Press OK on Wi-Fi calling and press OK again to switch it on
Scroll down and select your Wi-Fi network by pressing OK
Type in your password and select Connect
After this is done, you will want to make sure this feature is enabled on the phone by following these steps:
Press the Green Call button
Press the Menu button
Scroll down and select Settings
Scroll down and select Calls
Scroll down to and select Wi-Fi calling
Make sure Enable Wi-Fi calling is on (when the button is green and on the right side, it is on. When it is gray and on the left side, it is off.)
Lastly, you will also need to contact your service provider to make sure this feature is enabled on your line.
This can be a great feature for our customers who experience poor network coverage in their homes. It is also important to note that while the SC490 senior cell phone supports Wi-Fi calling, this phone does not have access to the internet. Additionally, while this phone can make calls over a wireless internet connection, you can rest assured that your calls are secure and free from any data security issues.
In Conclusion
Wi-Fi calling is a great feature that can be used in several situations. Wi-Fi calling is great for areas with the poor network connection and when you want to conserve your battery life. We are proud to offer Wi-Fi calling on our Jethro SC490 4G phone to our customers. We hope you found this blog helpful.
