So, you’ve purchased your Jethro SC490 phone and want to use your current carriers like Tracfone, Net 10, or Straight Talk. These carriers can be a great option to pair with your Jethro phone because of their affordability, but the activation process can be a little confusing.

If you qualify for SafeLink, consider using a Jethro phone with your service. SafeLink provides wireless services to individuals enrolled in government support programs like Medicaid or food stamps. SafeLink service is provided by Tracfone. SafeLink is a great option to use with a Jethro phone because it is free, however, setting up your SafeLink service can be a challenging process.

We made this blog to help Tracfone, Net 10, Straight Talk, and SafeLink customers in the activation process of using a Jethro phone with their service.

Using your Jethro Phone with Tracfone, Net 10, SafeLink, and Straight Talk.

We recently had a customer who was using a Tracfone cellphone with Tracfone as their service provider as well. This customer wanted to upgrade to a Jethro phone and so we helped them along in this process. After they purchased their new phone, we put their Tracfone SIM card into the new phone. Upon doing this, a message appeared on the phone that said, “Emergency Only”. We called Tracfone’s customer service for assistance. After being on hold for a very long time, Tracfone informed us that if our customer wanted to use an unlocked phone, like the Jethro phone, they will need to purchase an activation kit and switch the phone number onto one of the AT&T, or T-Mobile SIM card.

After the phone call, we helped our customer purchase an activation kit off Amazon and switched their phone number to the T-Mobile SIM Card. We inserted the SIM card into the Jethro phone, and it worked right away!

To Wrap Things Up

Long story short, if you are using Tracfone, Straight Talk, Net 10, or SafeLink as your service provider and want to upgrade your cell phone to a Jethro SC490 phone, you will need to purchase an activation kit and switch your phone number to an AT&T, or T-Mobile SIM card. Unfortunately, Verizon activation has some complications, and Sprint is not currently compatible with Jethro phones.

We’re Happy to Help

We hope you found this blog helpful. If you have any questions or challenges as you switch to your Jethro SC490 phone, please do not hesitate to contact our local customer service.
